Wayne L Gerber

January 6, 1957 — July 17, 2017

Wayne L Gerber, 60, of Hurley, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, July 17, 2017. He was born January 6, 1957 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Alfred and Shirley Marshall Gerber.

He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Sharon Barton Gerber, they wed in June of 1982. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother Daniel A. Gerber and his wife Margaret, a sister Shirley Gerber O'Brien and her husband Edward, all of Coaldale, PA, an uncle Rolland Marshall and his wife Janet of Tamaqua, PA, mother in law Gloria Barton of Allentown, brother in laws Kenneth Barton and his wife Sharon, and Billy G Barton and his wife Debra, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as his beloved greyhounds Kitty and Sonic.

Wayne was an avid golfer, liked to ride bikes, and was active in Greyhound rescue. Wayne was also an active member of the Morning Star Christian Fellowship, had served on the board of the Binnewater Union Free Chapel and on the board of Ulster County Pregnancy Support Center.

He was a graduate of Panther Valley High School, Summit Hill, PA, class of 1974, and Lincoln Technical Institute, Allentown, PA. Wayne served in the United States Coast Guard from 1974 to 1978. He was employed by IBM for 35 years, first in Kingston and most recently working as layout mask designer in Poughkeepsie.

A Celebration of Wayne's life will take place at 11am on Friday August 11, 2017 at the Morning Star Christian Fellowship, 83 East Chester St, Kingston. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Wayne may be made to Good Sheppard Christian School, 83 East Chester St., Kingston, NY 12401 or Grey 2K Worldwide, PO Box F, Arlington, MA 02476.
