Kingston - Gerald R." Jerry" Farber, died peacefully at his home in Kingston on January 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Barbara Sobsey Farber, whom he married June 5, 1960; and sons: Daniel Farber, of Harvard, Massachusetts, Matthew Farber and wife Tammy and their daughter Sarah, of Kingston, and Robert Farber of San Diego, California. Born September 25,1940 in Kingston, he was the son of the late George and Eleanor Farber. He was predeceased by his sister, Sharon Farber Liepshitz. After graduation from Kingston High School in 1958, he studied at the New York Institute of Photography in Manhattan. Returning to Kingston, he founded and operated two businesses, Ideal Camera Company and Family Films. After many years as a business owner, a deep interest in the financial markets and economics, led Jerry to begin a second career. He went back to school and became a licensed stock broker and financial advisor. For the last 25 years he worked for Stephen Hakim at the Raymond James Financial Offices in Kingston. Jerry loved spending time with his family and taking his granddaughter, Sarah on trips during the summer. He enjoyed playing tennis, sailing in Maine, flower gardening and watching football. He also was fond of camping and traveling around the country with his Airstream trailer. He liked to plan bus trips and excursions for friends. He and his wife planned many bus trips for the Kingston Retired Teachers' Federation. Services and Internment will be private.
