Eileen Quick

July 29, 1936 — August 8, 2018

Eileen M. (Steltz) Quick passed from this earth to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 8th at the Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Eileen was born on July 29th, 1936 in Kingston, the daughter of the late Mercedes Harris & John W. Steltz. She was the 11th of 13 children. Eileen attended St. Peter's Elementary School and graduated from the Academy of St. Ursula. She was employed at the Kingston Trust Company from 1959 through 1966.

Eileen married Clifton G. Quick on August 29th, 1965 at St. Peter's Church in Kingston, New York. Eileen's brother, the Right Reverend Monsignor John A. Steltz, presided over the ceremony. Eileen accompanied Cliff to Myrtle Beach Air Force Base (South Carolina) in 1966 while he served in the United States Air Force. During that time, Eileen was employed in the Central Accounting Office on the base. Cliff was deployed to Danang Air Force Base, South Vietnam in 1969 and Eileen returned to Kingston to await his safe return.

In 1983, Eileen began serving the Kingston City School systems in a variety of positions including Kindergarten & Reading Teacher Aide; Secretary to the Kingston High School Guidance Office; and Assistant Principal's Secretary. Eileen retired from the school system in June of 2000 to spend time with her family and travel. She enjoyed many years of activity in team bowling; as a softball coach and as a Girl Scout Leader.

Eileen is survived by her husband of 52 years Clifton G. Quick; her son Clifton J. Quick and wife Debra of Cortland, New York; her daughter Kristin Eileen Corbin and husband Michael of Newmarket, New Hampshire; and five grandchildren; Lillian Nicole Quick; Twins Ella Grace & Maia Hope Quick; Caden William Corbin & Delaney Eileen Corbin. She is also survived by her brother Daniel G. Steltz who resides in Wake Forest, North Carolina as well as many nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents, Eileen was predeceased by her sisters Virginia F. Hughey; Dolores M. Torrisi & Mercedes R. Tapia as well as her brothers Right Reverend Monsignor John A. Steltz; Donald J. Steltz; Robert J. Steltz; William L. Steltz; Kenneth J. Steltz; Roger R. Steltz; Francis E. Steltz & Eugene J. Steltz.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring and compassionate staff of the Golden Hill Nursing Home on Floor C-3. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest contributions be made to The Alzheimer's Association of the Hudson Valley.

Entrusted to the care of Mr. Luke Keyser of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Avenue in Kingston, New York. Family & Friends may visit to pay their respects on Saturday, August 18th between the hours of 3:00 & 5:30 PM. At 5:30 PM, the Reverend Jack Arlotta, Pastor of the Sacred Heart Church in Highland Falls, New York and close friend of the family will be presiding over the funeral service.
